Object in Parliament

In 2005, we sent a copy of The Sport to every MP in the House of Commons, asking why it was sold as a newspaper. Within 6 months we had had cross party meetings with MPs, with the Home Office, DTI, DCMS and saw new (voluntary) retail recommendations on the display of Lad's Mags and The Sport. The campaign culminated in a highly publicised Parliamentary debate and a Bill voting overwhelmingly in favour of the principle of introducing independent and socially responsible regulation of the press.

About Us

Our Work

OBJECT Underground

We met with Transport for London (TFL) in 2002, bringing to their attention the number of sexist adverts on the transport network. Since then TFL has dramatically altered its guidelines as to what material is appropriate. The codes are now excellent, although sadly not always implemented. We continue to support the public in urging best practice on the transport network.

Giving You A Voice

Perhaps the most important thing we do is give back a voice to the general public who do not like the normalising of the porn and sex industries and are concerned by their impact on us all - particularly on children who are being 'groomed' in this culture. We are being joined by an increasing number of regional groups - with whom we are generating a groundswell of support and a catalyst for change.
